Every year, the highly respected Danish financial weekly, Økonomisk Ugebrev (The Financial Weekly), publishes a survey of the market for Danish corporate finance advisors, including law firms.

Titled “Innovative solutions elevate law firm”, managing partner Dan Moalem is interviewed as the only attorney in the survey’s law firm section. The interview focuses on Moalem Weitemeyer Bendtsen’s achievements and increasing market share. Moalem Weitemeyer Bendtsen is ranked as the 6th most active Danish M&A law firm – despite our law firm being less than 1/20 the size of its primary competitors.

In the interview, Dan Moalem elaborates on the firm’s reputation for attracting associates with very high legal capacities to handle the firm’s assignments: “We do not believe that the ability to think carefully counts on the negative side. You may compare us to a private hospital carrying out only complex surgery. That is also done at the large hospitals, but we simply only do complex surgery and nothing else.”

Additionally, Dan Moalem talks about the firm’s focus on cohesion and the special culture that the firm is known for: “We place significant emphasis on a cohesive and cooperative partnership, and this requires a particular culture and particular employees allowing only for a “grow-slow” strategy”.

The article recognises Moalem Weitemeyer Bendtsen’s increasing market share despite the fact that the M&A market has been less than half of the size of what it was six or seven years ago. Consequently, the article states that there is much that indicates that “new” players such as Moalem Weitemeyer Bendtsen have managed to renew themselves in comparison to the “older” established players.

Moalem Weitemeyer Bendtsen is pleased with the acknowledgement in Økonomisk Ugebrev, and we believe that the analysis is a confirmation and recognition of our highly specialised business model and focus on employee cohesion.

The interview and analysis may be read in full at www.ugebrev.dk. Økonomisk Ugebrev is widely recognised as Denmark’s perhaps leading journalistic periodical within, amongst other topics, corporate finance.
